Speech-Language Pathologist

My name is Heather Ellison and this is my first year at Level Cross Elementary.  I am very excited to be joining this amazing staff.  I have heard only wonderful things about this school.  I'm looking forward to getting to know the amazing students here and share in the great experiences that this place has to offer.

My Educational and Speech Therapy Background:

I attended UNC-Chapel Hill for my undergraduate degree, which I received in 2006.  My Bachelor of Arts degree focused on Communications and Linguistics, with a concentration in Speech and Hearing Sciences.  After working for a few years in the banking industry, I decided to pursue my Master's degree.  I received my Master of Arts from UNC-Greensboro in 2012 in Speech-Language Pathology.  I have been a practicing and licensed therapist since 2012, receiving my full licensure and Certificate of Clinical Competence in 2013.  I began my work as a speech therapist in the private sector, working with a variety of preschool and school age children from age 3 to 18.  In February of 2013 I began working in Randolph County Schools, working with the school-aged population, focusing primarily on the elementary level, but also working at the middle and high school levels.  Since beginning my career, I have worked with a multitude of speech-language disorders, including fluency/stuttering, speech-sound disorders, intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other developmental delays.

A Little About Me:

I was raised here in Randolph County and believe this is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  I grew up in Asheboro, which is where most of my family still lives today.  I live with my husband, Chris, who is an Exceptional Children's teacher at Randleman High, and two sons, Camden, 3 years, and Noel, 8 months, here in Randleman.  My boys are the light of my life and I love that I am able to work so close to home.  I hope they will be able to attend this amazing school when they begin their academic careers!

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments regarding your child's speech/language skills, please feel free to send me an email or call me at the school and I will be happy to chat with you when I am not working with students.

Thank you!
